Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sliders
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sliders – these spicy little buffalo chicken sandwiches are the perfect game-day food! Tailgates and football parties will never be the same!
These buffalo chicken sliders are my go-to tailgate dish because they are the biggest crowd-pleaser. They are spicy, zesty, sweet and oh so addicting. I don’t know whether it’s the Franks Buffalo Sauce or the Kings Hawaiian Rolls, but everyone loves these bad boys! Austin requests them all year long.
Let me start by saying that these are pretty spicy so if you aren’t a fan of heat, you may want to pull back on the buffalo sauce or substitute with your favorite barbecue sauce.
These Buffalo Chicken Sliders are Perfect for Tailgating
The buffalo chicken is prepared in a slow cooker so it’s an easy game day meal. There’s two ways you can play this for a tailgate. I’ll walk you through the scenarios below.
Scenario 1 (no generator/electricity at tailgate) – Wake up early, start the chicken in the slow cooker. Get ready for the game and pack your essentials. After 2.5 hours, shred chicken and add butter, sauce and ranch. Cook on low for an additional 30 minutes. Then, about 15 minutes before you leave, put shredded buffalo chicken onto buns and top with blue cheese. Place the sliders an aluminum casserole pan that way you can reheat them on the grill at the tailgate – this also makes for easy clean-up! Store the coleslaw in a separate container in a cooler until you are ready to serve. Side note: these sliders are even good cold so don’t worry if you can’t reheat!
Scenario 2 (generator/electricity at tailgate) – Wake up early, start the chicken in the slow cooker. Get ready for the game and pack your essentials. After 2.5 hours, shred chicken and add butter, sauce and ranch. Return to slow cooker and secure lid. Pack up serving utensils, buns, blue cheese, coleslaw and slow cooker. Once at the tailgate, plug in the slow cooker and heat chicken on “warm” setting until ready to serve. Set up an assembly line with toppings so each person can build their own sliders.
I usually go with Scenario 1 because it is less of a hassle. But I know some people like to do it up big with the generator! Go on with your bad self!
