Loaded Sweet Potato Totchos
Loaded Sweet Potato Totchos – cheesy nachos and crispy tater tots combine to create a sweet and savory football snack that is easy to make and perfect for sharing!
Okay, so I hope I am not the first to introduce you to the new craze that’s 100% changing the nacho game, because that would mean you have never experienced the drool-worthy glory of the TOTCHO. But if I am, allow me to introduce this new combo: the love child of a classic bar food (nachos) and your favorite childhood potato (the tater tot). Totchos are that new new and you need to have them for your football party this weekend!
This summer, I started seeing these bad boys popping up in food trucks, bars, etc. With layered crispy potatoes, meat, cheese and sour cream, what’s not to love about this nacho impostor? And because I am such an innovator and I absolutely cannot help myself, I swapped in my fav: sweet potato tots. No need to hold your applause.
In all seriousness, this is such a fun snack to prepare at home when watching a football game. Cook the frozen sweet potato tots in the oven according to package directions, layer with taco meat and cheese, then reheat to crispy, melty, perfection. Lastly, add your favorite nacho toppings and serve immediately. It really is THAT easy.
I try to be conscious of red meat so for this recipe, I always use ground turkey. You can use ground beef or chicken instead. When I make tacos at home, I like to use a store-bought taco sauce. SO SUE ME. I highly recommend using Frontera Ground Beef Taco Sauce. I am not being paid to say that, I truly believe they produce a great line of southwest inspired sauces. If you prefer, you can use a packet of taco seasoning or prepare your own blend with cumin, salt, chili powder, etc. Personally, I like to keep it saucy 😉

There are a few big games coming up this weekend so you should probably pin these totchos. I hope you will try the recipe below and let me know what you think! If you decide to go for it, post a picture of your totchos on Instagram and tag me @bluecheesebungalow.

- 1 8 ounce packet taco sauce
- 1 can of black beans
- 2 cups Mexican blend cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1 vine ripened tomato (diced)
- 1/4 red onion (finely diced)

Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- 2. Arrange tater tots in an even layer on a lightly greased baking sheet. Place into preheated oven and cook for 25 minutes.
