Sweet and Spicy Candied Pecans – a sweet and spicy twist on classic candied pecans that are easy to make and perfect for holiday snacking!
I am a grazer, especially over the holidays. Even if there is dinner on the stove or pies in the oven, I am looking for something to munch on. It’s probably because when I was growing up, my parents always put out nuts and candies for guests. I tend to fill up on sweets before Christmas dinner is even served. Oops 😉
I love this recipe for Sweet and Spicy Candied Pecans because they are so simple and long after they bake, the whole house smells like Christmas! Everyone has a candied nut recipe – they’re a classic holiday treat! But this is by far my favorite. The cayenne isn’t too spicy but gives pecans the perfect kick! Not to mention, the crunchy, sweet candy coating is completely addicting. But they’re a healthy fat right?? Caution: Dangerous Snacking Levels Ahead.
To create the candy coating, start by whisking the egg white in a small bowl until frothy but not stiff. Fold in brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, salt and cayenne pepper. Then, in a larger bowl, toss the pecans with the sugar mixture. Once they are evenly coated, spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 35 minutes and be sure to toss half way through. I usually toss around the 20 minute mark. Once these babies cool completely, they are ready to enjoy. Store the candied pecans in an airtight container for up to three weeks.
Who knew homemade candied pecans were so easy, right? These will totally impress your guests over the holidays. Personally, I think these are a great touch when added to cookie trays and/or cheese platters. If you try these, share a picture on instagram and tag me @bluecheesebungalow! I love seeing your creations!
Happy Holidays!
