Peanut Butter Banana Nice Cream is a healthy alternative to sweet and creamy ice cream. This guilt free recipe is made with bananas, peanut butter, milk and vanilla with NO ADDED SUGAR! Plus, you can use nut milk to make this 100% vegan!
Is it just me or do you look forward to having a few old bananas on deck? Because when it comes to a bunch of over ripe bananas, we have two options: (1) banana nut bread or (2) banana nice cream. Both great options but this time, I chose the path less traveled by… and I think you’ll want to join me on this journey. I’m talking healthy ice cream. WHAT!?
I’ve made banana nice cream quite a few times but somehow I didn’t made it for Austin until just recently. And just like with my 4 Ingredient Cookie Bars, I have now created a monster. I’m pretty sure he skipped his daily banana last week just so I would make this recipe again.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Ripe Bananas
- Creamy Peanut Butter
- Milk (substitute nut milk for vegan)
- Vanilla Extract
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Note that there is no added sugar in this recipe. Ripe bananas provide all the sweetness this recipe needs. Sure, you can taste the banana and no, it doesn’t taste like sweet cream and Reese cups from the Marble Slab down the street. BUT it does taste pretty fantastic on a week night when you’re trying not to completely load up on the white stuff (sugar) before bed.
Check out the recipe below and pin for next time you have ripe bananas! Life really is all about moderation and with this easy recipe, you can enjoy delicious ice cream without the guilt!

Ingredients
- 5 ripe bananas
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons milk (substitute nut milk for vegan)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- 1. Slice bananas into coins and place in a single layer in a gallon size freezer bag. Freeze for at least 6 hours (I recommend freezing overnight).
- 2. Remove bananas from freezer and allow them to defrost on the counter for about 5 minutes.
- 3. In a large food processor, combine bananas, peanut butter, milk and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. You may need to scrape down the sides during this process.
- 4. Fold in chocolate chips or any other toppings you wish.
- 5. Pour mixture into a plastic container or other freezer safe dish. Use a spoon to smooth the nice cream into an even layer.
- 6. Put the nice cream back into the freezer for 4-5 hours or until completely frozen. (Freezer time will depend on the size of your container)
- 7. Scoop into individual bowls and enjoy with your favorite toppings!
- *Nice Cream can be stored, covered, in the freezer for up to one week. If you freeze longer than 5 hours the nice cream may become very hard. In this case, you should leave it out on the counter at room temperature for 10+ minutes until it reaches desired texture.
