What’s on my Cleaning Cart – Friday Favorites
This edition of Friday Favs is all about the ultimate home hack: my cleaning cart. Here are the tips, tricks and products I use to keep my home looking brand new.
Welcome to Friday Favorites – Cleaning Edition. It’s so important to use the right products and tools on surfaces in your home, not only to keep things squeaky clean but to prevent damage and wear-and-tear. Several weeks ago I shared my cleaning cart on instagram and got a tons of questions and comments so today I thought I’d share some of my favorite cleaning products.

Utility Cart – First, let’s start with the cart. Ikea sells this one for under $30, which is amazing considering I’ve had it for several years and it still looks brand new! Previously, I used this as a bar cart; oh how times have changed. What’s great about this cart is that you can easily push it around to any room in the house.
Cleaning Cart – Top Shelf Products
The top shelf of my cleaning cart is where I store my most used hard cleaning products including surface sprays, mircofiber towels, magic erasers, sponges and paper towels. Here are a few of my favorite products:
409 Stone and Steel – We have quartz counter tops and stainless steel appliances so I am happy to have found a product that I can use on both. It saves time and I don’t have to worry about streaking on our appliances or damage to counter tops. Every night, I wipe down the kitchen with this spray and a microfiber towel. It’s hard to find this product at the grocery store so I would recommend buying from Amazon or Lowe’s.
Ammonia-Free Windex – It’s important to think about the chemicals you are putting in your home. Ammonia is not only damaging to surfaces in but it can also affect your family’s health. It’s better to be safe than sorry so choose an ammonia free glass cleaner. Another tip for cleaning bathroom mirrors is to wipe from the bottom up; this will prevent chemicals from running down onto counter tops and behind the mirror. Over time, chemicals left on these surfaces can cause discoloration and erosion.
Pledge Multi-surface – Sometimes the 409 Stone and Steel just doesn’t cut it. When I have hard stains on my counter tops, I just spot clean with this Pledge multi-surface. I also love this spray because I can use it on practically any hard surface in my home; I use it on my counter tops, dining room table, wood furniture and electronics.
Cleaning Cart – 2nd Shelf Products
The second shelf of my cleaning cart is reserved for dusters, disinfectant wipes and sprays. These are items I use less frequently, more like “weekend cleaning” products. Here are a few of my favorites:
Swifter Duster – We have 9 and 10 foot ceilings throughout our home so it is sometimes a challenge for me to reach all the areas that collect dust (I’m 5’3). I LOVE my Swifter duster extender because it allows me to reach fans, the top of windows and doorways, etc.
Lysol Disinfectant Spray – This product is good for all the surfaces that collect harmful bacteria: bathroom and kitchen hardware, door handles, remotes, etc. Creeps me out just thinking about it. Give these items a spray once per week to help keep your household healthy.
Miscellaneous Favorites
Dyson v7 vacuum – You’ve heard it 1,000 times but the Dyson cordless vacuum has changed my life. I use it daily; it is so easy and lightweight. I use it on our tile and carpet floors and the transition is seamless. I also love the attachments; once a month I use the extender with the bristle head to effortlessly clean all my baseboards. A Dyson vacuum makes a great gift!
Roomba Robot Vacuum – Call me crazy, sometimes I turn on the Roomba while vacuuming with my Dyson. I feel like we are a team – DON’T JUDGE ME! I love it because the Roomba gets underneath the couch and our bed. plus, it’s great for collecting pet hair. Side note: Bear doesn’t really shed but I have rugs that do. 😉
Bissell Steam Mop – I love this steam mop! I use it every 2 weeks or so for a deep clean of our tile floors. It gets all the dirt and dust that’s tracked in throughout the week and leaves zero streaks or residue. You can easily pop the mop cover in the washer and dryer, too!
I am always looking for new tips and tricks so if you have any, leave them in the comment section below. Happen to like this post? Check out my favorite kitchen items!
