I wanted to create an easy Valentine’s Day recipe for you all because the holiday falls on a Wednesday this year. I don’t know about you but by Wednesday, I am exhausted and I hardly have time to get dinner on the table… let alone dessert. Thus, I am ALL about taking shortcuts when baking.
Haters gonna hate when it comes to box cake mix. I get it. It’s a totally different taste and texture than the “real stuff”. But when you’re in a pinch, box cake mix is so versatile. These cookie bars take about 35 minutes total – that’s because the box mix contains all the leavening agents and sweeteners you need. Just mix in eggs, butter and chocolate candies and you have a rich, buttery cookie dough.
I made these Cake Mix Cookie Bars over the weekend and had to package some up for the neighbors because I was scared we may eat them all! They are SO addicting! If you make these for Valentine’s Day (or any day for that matter), post a picture on instagram and tag me @bluecheesebungalow.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
